A motorcyclist has died after a crash with a car in near Linlithgow Bridge in West Lothian.

The 23-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene following the incident involving a Kawasaki EX400 motorbike and a Citroen C1 car on the A803 at about 20:35 on Friday.

The driver of the car, a 36-year-old man, was checked at the scene and the road was closed for several hours.

It came just hours after a separate crash involving a motorbike and another car close to the bridge in which the 38-year-old rider suffered serious injuries.

Sgt Thomas Aitken urged anyone with information or dash-cam footage of either incident to contact officers, external.

He added: "Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the woman who died at this difficult time."
