Dog who escaped after a crash makes pub his home

Pub managers Nathan Davies and Daniel Morris say Rex is "part of the furniture now"

A dog who escaped after his owner was involved in a car crash has made the pub he ran into his home.
Rex the Shih Tzu ran into The Leaping Wolf pub in Wolverhampton in September 2023 while regulars were watching their team take on Liverpool.
Pub managers Nathan Davies and Daniel Morris eventually contacted a nearby vet and learned Rex's owner had died as a result of the crash. The managers were later told they could keep the dog.
"We obviously wanted to give him a home, we couldn't see him going to a kennel or anything like that. It was one of the best decisions I think we've ever made," Mr Davies added.

The pub managers said they had been told there was no extended family who could look after Rex, and were asked if they wanted to adopt him.
The dog has now become "one of the family" and is a favourite with football fans and regulars.
"We were just a bit worried because he was a rescue dog, but we decided to keep him because he wasn't a problem, he's like a tourist project," Mr Morris said.
"I know people who come from London and they come deliberately to see the dog."
Rex greets all costumers as they walk through the door, and enjoys the treats and attention he receives.
Pub regular Terrance Mason said: "He's beautiful, smashing dog. He likes the fuss and we have a good laugh.
"He will go to anybody, he's a lovely dog. He's my matey."
