A vehicle that overturned in Cheshire during an early-hours crash on Sunday was an ambulance car, police have confirmed.

The single-vehicle crash happened on the A530 Middlewich Road, the route from Nantwich to Crewe's Leighton Hospital, at 02:45 BST.

A road sweeper was called to the scene in the Nantwich area to clear "a large stretch of mud", the Cheshire force said.

The BBC has contacted North West Ambulance Service for comment.

There were no reports of any injuries.
