A fourth man has been charged, and three further arrests have been made, following a "targeted" attack on a vehicle at a house in Rotherham, police have said.

Two Audi S3s crashed into the gates of a property on Woodland Drive in North Anston at about 10:15 BST on Monday before a fight broke out, according to South Yorkshire Police.

A 21-year-old man was left with life-threatening injuries and remained in hospital in a critical condition, a force spokesperson said.

Dean Cruickshanks, aged 30, of Monksbridge Road, was due to appear at Kingston-upon-Hull and Holderness Magistrates' Court on Saturday, charged with violent disorder, dangerous driving and possessing a blade in public.

Meanwhile, a man, 30, had been arrested on suspicion of violent disorder and dangerous driving and remained in police custody, the spokesperson said.

A 30-year-old woman and a 54-year-old man were also in custody, having been arrested on suspicion of assisting offenders.

Temporary Det Ch Insp Simon Cartwright said: "Officers are working tirelessly to secure answers for the young man and his family.

"Our thoughts remain with him and his loved ones."

Earlier this week, Stephen Heeley, 26, of Leicester Road in Dinnington, and Michael Hall, 44, of Worksop Road, appeared at Sheffield Magistrates' Court charged with violent disorder and possession of a blade in a public place.

Liam Hancock, 33, of Caperns Road, also appeared at the same court, charged with attempting to cause grievous bodily harm and violent disorder.

All three were remanded in custody ahead of a hearing due to take place at Sheffield Crown Court on 8 October.

A 37-year-old man who was injured in the incident, and who had been arrested previously on suspicion of wounding, remained in police custody, officers said.
