Man arrested after pedestrian dies in crash

The collision happened on Bradford Road, near the junction with Broom Hall Avenue, police said.

A man has been arrested after the death of a pedestrian in a crash in Wakefield.
Emergency services were called to reports of a collision involving a white Volkswagen Caddy van and a male pedestrian on Bradford Road, Wrenthorpe, at about 20:20 GMT on Thursday, according to West Yorkshire Police.
The pedestrian, a man aged in his 70s, died at the scene, and another man had since been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, a force spokesperson said.
Anyone with information about the collision, or dashcam footage from the scene near the junction of Broom Hall Avenue, was asked to get in touch with police.
