Drink-driver jailed after causing teenager's death

A drink-driver who admitted causing the death of a 19-year-old man has been jailed.

Daniel Johnsen, 34, of Ashtree Close, Immingham, pleaded guilty to two charges of causing death by dangerous driving and driving over the prescribed limit.

Lewis Tuson died from his injuries on 31 January, the day after being hit by a van on the B1210 Habrough Road, Humberside Police said.

Johnsen was sentenced to nine years and four months at Grimsby Crown Court on Tuesday 5 March.

He was also disqualified from driving for 14 years and eight months.

Mr Tuson was described by his mum as a "lovely person".

She said: “Lewis wasn't just my son, he was my best friend.”

Meanwhile, Humberside Police said it had referred itself to the Independent Office for Police Conduct.
