Stargazers in Surrey were treated to a dazzling appearance of the Northern Lights last night after the biggest solar storm in more than 20 years.
The lights, also known as aurora borealis, were spotted by onlookers across the county.
The phenomenon appears as swirling curtains of pink, green and purple lights in the sky.
The geomagnetic storm prompted the US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) to issue a rare solar storm warning.
The Northern Lights were also seen above Kent, plus in East and West Sussex.
