Visit Jersey said the island's use as the filming location for Bergerac boosted tourism

The rebooted version of TV drama Bergerac has helped bring tourists to Jersey, industry officials say.

Visit Jersey said research conducted over the summer suggested 8% of visitors to the island said they had been influenced to head over after watching the U&Drama series which premiered in February.

It added 70% of people who said they had decided to visit Jersey after watching Bergerac were first-time tourists.

Tricia Warwick, Visit Jersey's chief executive, said the show had helped reach new audiences for the island and she hoped the next series, due to air in 2026, could provide a further boost.

She added the first series of the crime drama, which is a remake of a programme starring John Nettles in the 1980s and 90s, had showcased what Jersey could offer visitors.

"We are thrilled to see Bergerac return for a second series, showcasing even more of Jersey's stunning landscapes and unique charm," Ms Warwick said.

"The first season reignited global interest in the island and we can't wait to welcome both returning fans and new viewers eager to explore the places that make Jersey so special."

Filming for the second series has now wrapped, with more than 100 members of the cast and crew staying in Jersey while it took place.
