Cement mixer overturns leading to road closure

A loaded cement mixer has overturned leading to the closure of a major road in East Sussex.
The A27 Polegate by-pass was closed in both directions between the A26 Beddingham Roundabout and the A2270 Eastbourne Road in Polegate, travel service Inrix said.
The crash was reported at about 09:40 on Monday, Highways England said, with Sussex Police and the South East Coast Ambulance Service called to the scene.
The westbound carriageway was later reopened, with delays expected in the area as recovery work is carried out.

A diversion route has been put in place, with traffic diverted on to the A26 at the Southerham roundabout, before being directed on to the B2192 and B2124 and then the A22 before returning to the A27, Highways England said.
Sussex Police has been approached for a comment.
An overturned cement mixer also caused rush hour delays on the A259 in Shoreham, West Sussex on Friday.
