Frustrated residents hold 'pothole party' at pub

Frustrated members of a Facebook group in Nottinghamshire put on a party at a pub to raise awareness of pothole problems in the area.
About 30 members from Gedling Borough Potholes gathered at The Gedling Inn on Saturday to "celebrate" their favourite potholes.
Inspired by Valentine's Day, attendees brought romantic cards, wore party hats and feasted on pothole-themed cakes.
Revellers then enjoyed a "pothole crawl" across the borough.
The group was created in January 2023 and now has more than 1,800 members.
Motorists post pictures of the worst-affected areas in the borough to alert other residents.
Brian Bailey is one of the moderators of the group who helped organise the party.
He said: "We are trying to promote and raise awareness of the pothole problem while making light of the situation.
"The next thing we're looking at developing is a new board game looking at a route of potholes around Gedling.
"We want more investment and quicker responses to fixing this problem across the city."
The group has previously made a pothole calendar, with proceeds donated to charity.
A Nottinghamshire County Council spokesperson said: "Recent severe weather episodes have taken a significant toll on Nottinghamshire's roads.
"We recognise that this is a really important issue, and we have secured a major new transport fund of £1.5bn which will be controlled by the new regional mayor and combined authority.
"When residents notice potholes, we ask that they report them through our website or the MyNOTTS App, and an inspector will assess the site as soon as possible."
