Olympic gymnast Abi Martin inspiring team-mates

A Devon gymnast's Olympic exploits have inspired others in the county, her team-mates and coaches have said.
Abi Martin was part of the Team GB line-up at Paris 2024 that finished fourth in the all-around team final - she scored 13.466 in the floor section of the contest.
The 16-year-old started her training at Paignton's South Devon School of Gymnastics and members there said she has been an inspiration to them.
Her coach Rachel Wignall said Martin's performance at the Olympics Games has shown others at the club they can achieve their goals if they work hard.
Team GB's quintet including Martin only missed out on a medal in the final by 0.234 of a mark to Brazil.
Gymnastics global superstar Simone Biles helped the USA win gold while Italy won silver in the Bercy Arena.
Martin was six years old when she started training at the South Devon School of Gymnastics.
Fellow club member Willow-Mae Calland said it was incredible to see someone she trains with competing on the biggest stage.
The 11-year-old said she now aspires to be like Martin and hopes to be a future Olympian herself.
"To see somebody do it and to see that I train with her makes me feel that it is possible," she said.
Ms Wignall said Martin has made a lot of sacrifices and had grown up in front of her coaches' eyes.
She added the teenager's hard work along with the efforts of Plymouth Swallows gymnast Ruby Stacey, who was a travelling reserve for Team GB, showed others in the county they can achieve their Olympic dreams.
"I think a few years ago you used to have to think that you'd need to be from a big city club to achieve these things, so I think it is great that gymnasts in Devon can see that it's possible," Ms Wignall said.
