A motorcycle rider has been detained for nearly two years after escaping from police custody while in hospital following his arrest for drugs and weapons offences.
Pavel-Sebastian Andreica, of no fixed address, was spotted acting suspiciously on an off-road motorbike and later found lying injured next to it on Montrose Street in Corby on 19 October.
The 21-year-old was carrying a large knife, a canister of CS spray, and more than £500 in cash and Northamptonshire Police discovered he was disqualified from driving and uninsured.
He was taken to Kettering General and fled from officers in the hospital grounds at about 03:30 GMT the following morning, but he was re-arrested nearby a short time later.
A mobile phone seized during his arrest revealed evidence of his involvement in the supply of Class B drugs, police said.
Andreica pleaded guilty at Northampton Crown Court to multiple offences including escaping lawful custody, possession of a bladed article and drug offences.
He was sentenced to one year and 10 months in a young offender institution.
Det Con Nichola Carroll said: "I hope this result and our quick response on the night reassures our local communities."
