Three more arrests after teenage boy shot

Detectives investigating the shooting of a teenage boy have arrested three more people.

A total of six suspects have now been detained after the boy was shot in Corby, Northamptonshire, on 11 April.

They have all been released on bail.

Northamptonshire Police said the victim was expected to make a full recovery.

Police said the 17-year-old boy was attacked in Hazel Wood near Westcott Way, Corby, shortly after 16:30 BST.

The wood, part of the ancient Rockingham Forest, is on the edge of the town centre, opposite a boating lake.

The police added that extra patrols were organised in the days following the incident "to reassure the local community".

The force revealed two days after the attack that the teenager had sustained a gunshot wound.

The latest arrests include a 45-year-old man from Corby, detained on suspicion of attempted murder, and two men from Kettering aged 75 and 47, who were arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.

A 20-year-old man was arrested on 14 April on suspicion of attempted murder, and a 54-year-old man was detained later on suspicion of attempted murder and involvement in the supply of Class A drugs.

A women, 41, was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender and conspiracy to supply drugs.

The police say detectives "continue to follow numerous lines of enquiry and are still appealing for anyone with information to come forward".
