Two treated after washing machine starts fire

A fire at a house in Loughborough was caused by a washing machine, Leicester Fire and Rescue Service has confirmed.

Firefighters were called to a blaze in Leicester Road shortly after 07:00 GMT on Wednesday.

The fire service said the caller reported the fire started in a washing machine.

Everyone in the house was accounted for, with two people being treated by East Midlands Ambulance Service paramedics.

Firefighters remain at the scene while the property is made safe.
