Man in court over serious city centre assault

A man has appeared in court after being charged over a serious assault in Exeter city centre.

Joshua George, 34, from Geneva Close, Exeter, was charged with one count of section 18 grievous bodily harm with intent following an incident in Sidwell Street on Sunday which left a man in his 50s with potentially life-threatening injuries.

George appeared at the city's Magistrates' Court on Tuesday and did not enter a plea.

A court spokesperson said his next appearance would be at Exeter Crown Court on 18 September.
