A 16-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a teenager was fatally stabbed in a park.

An investigation was launched after Harleigh Hepworth, from Staffordshire, was attacked in Wolverhampton's West Park on Thursday.

The suspect was arrested on Saturday night and remains in custody, West Midlands Police said.

Officers added they were continuing to appeal for anyone with information.

The 17-year-old victim was found in a critical condition by paramedics and declared dead shortly afterwards.

Ch Supt Rich Fisher previously said another young life had tragically been taken by knife crime.

"We are keeping Harleigh's family updated with this fast-moving investigation and our thoughts are with them at this devastating time," he said.

A cordon around the park has now been lifted but patrols have been stepped up in the area.
