Three boys arrested over riot in Hull city centre

Three teenage boys, aged 15, 16 and 17, and a 20-year-old man have been arrested following the disorder in Hull on Saturday.

They are being held in custody on suspicion of violent disorder, Humberside Police said.

The 17-year-old has also been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm as a part of a separate incident.

The force also said that 35-year-old Christopher Douglas, of Avenues Court, Hull, had been charged with violent disorder and possession of Class B drugs.

More than 30 people have been arrested in connection with trouble, which broke out after a demonstration involving anti-immigration protesters in the city centre.

Speaking on Tuesday, Assistant Chief Constable Thom McLoughlin said there would be "significantly more action and arrests over the coming days".

"We are actively progressing various lines of inquiry to identify those involved in the violent disorder," he added.

Two people appeared at Hull Magistrates Court on Tuesday in connection with the violence.

Andrew Stewart, 37, of Anlaby Road, pleaded guilty to a charge of unlawful violence, while a second man denied the same offence.

Officers have renewed an appeal for dashcam or mobile footage of trouble that broke out in the Ferensway, Jameson Street and Spring Bank areas.

A spokesperson said information submitted through a major incident portal, external would be "dealt with in the strictest confidence".
