A man who was arrested in connection with an incident during which an officer was scalded, has been released on bail.

The officer suffered injuries to his chest and chin after a liquid was thrown over him as he tried to arrest a man in Coates Row in east Belfast on Sunday.

The police had received a report from the fire service of a man armed with a knife inside an apartment when they were responding to a report of a fire.

A 35-year-old man had been arrested at the scene, but has now been released on bail to allow for further enquiries.
