Plans to transform a dilapidated building in Wolverhampton into a new shop and flats have been approved by the city council.

The building, within a designated conservation area in Worcester Street, has been unused for 25 years and described in a heritage report as "structurally failed, roofless, and water-damaged."

The redevelopment would see the heritage front facade restored, a ground-floor retail unit built, accommodation above, architectural detailing reinstated and "sensitively" extending to the rear and providing a loft conversion.

Applicant Shabana Latifi said her plans would "restore a long-derelict building and remove an eyesore."
