People were asked to avoid a town centre following a huge fire overnight.

The blaze broke out at about 23:00 BST on Saturday at the former Odeon cinema on Dent Road in Hartlepool.

Five appliances from across Teesside were called out to tackle the fire.

Cleveland Fire Brigade said no one had been injured but a number of properties on Joicey Road had been evacuated.
