'Positive line' in murder probe after man found injured

Detectives say they are following a positive line of enquiry in a murder probe after a man died in South Lanarkshire.

Police were called to a report of two injured men in the Braeside Crescent area of Kirkmuirhill, near Lanark, in the early hours of Wednesday 27 August.

Scott Boyd, 30, was pronounced dead at the scene, and following a post mortem examination, his death is being treated as murder.

A 35-year-old man was taken to Wishaw General Hospital for treatment and has since been released.

Det Ch Insp Bob Williamson said: "Our thoughts remain with the family and friends of Mr Boyd at this very difficult time. We are continuing to provide them with support as our investigation continues.

"Extensive inquiries are being carried out by officers and specialist resources, and we are now following a positive line of enquiry.

"We would like to thank the public in the local community who have supported our investigation so far."

Ch Insp Sarah McArthur added: "We will remain in the area while investigations are continuing, and anyone with concerns should speak to officers, external."
