A major road between the north of the Isle of Man and Douglas will shut later to allow for maintenance work.

The closure on the A18 Mountain Road will stretch between Ramsey Hairpin and the Creg ny Baa between 18:30 and 22:00 BST until Wednesday.

Work on the verge is being carried out ahead of the Manx Grand Prix (MGP), which starts on Sunday.

Scheduled works had to be postponed last week because it required good visibility and there was fog.

The Department of Infrastructure said if the weather caused further disruption and works could not be completed by 22:00 on Wednesday, extra closures would take place.

Qualifying for the MGP begins on Sunday, with the first race scheduled to take place on 23 August.
