Plans have been submitted for the second phase of a housing development in North Ferriby.

Developer Beal Homes has submitted a proposal to East Riding of Yorkshire Council for an additional 36 homes to be built on land south of Ferriby High Road.

The first phase of the Ferriby Meadows project includes 115 homes which are already under construction after planning permission was granted last year.

Plans said phase two would include five affordable homes and 31 residential homes. They would range from one-bedroom up to five-bedroom.

According to the Local Democracy Reporting Service, the additional houses would be built to the east of those currently under construction.

Plans state two access roads would be extended to the east and would create two separate areas with no direct link between, creating "a more private character".

At the Ferriby Meadows' show home launch, Beal Homes' sales and marketing director Ross Clarkson said there had already been "strong demand".

"We expected it to be extremely popular, but the demand has surpassed even our expectations," Mr Clarkson added.

According to planning documents, the homes would "make a meaningful contribution towards meeting housing need in the locality".

The application will now be considered by the council.
