A man is due to go on trial, accused of murdering a woman who died at a property in Staffordshire.

Dale Cole, 38, pleaded not guilty over the death of 39-year-old Lisa Holland at a house on Victoria Crescent, Burton-on-Trent on 20 October 2022.

He also pleaded not guilty to a charge of engaging in controlling or coercive behaviour.

Mr Cole, from Burton-on-Trent, appeared at Birmingham Crown Court on Thursday and was remanded in custody ahead of a trial at Stafford Crown Court on 23 February.
