Free bus travel for veterans on Remembrance Sunday

LibertyBus is offering veterans free travel on Remembrance Sunday

A Jersey bus company is offering free travel for veterans travelling to remembrance day ceremonies on Sunday.

LibertyBus said the offer would be valid on all of its services, and said the initiative was part of its "ongoing commitment to the armed forces covenant" on the island.

Kevin Hart, director of LibertyBus, said: "Providing free travel on Remembrance Sunday is our way of recognising their service and sacrifice and ensuring that everyone who wishes to attend the commemorations can do so with ease."

The bus company said veterans would need to show their veteran's ID card when boarding its services to be eligible for the offer.

Mr Hart said: "We recognise the importance of this day for so many islanders, and we hope that by offering this small gesture, we can help bring people together to honour those who have served and those who continue to serve.

"It's a privilege for us to play a part in helping veterans, their families, and the community mark this occasion with the respect it deserves."

Lt Col Tim Daniels, chairman of the Royal British Legion Jersey Branch, said the gesture ensured "everyone in the community can participate in this important day of remembrance".

He added: "It means a great deal to veterans and reflects the regard of the community for their service."
