Drivers warned of weekend motorway closure
- Published
A stretch of a major motorway will be closed this weekend to allow for roadworks.
The westbound M4 between junction 11 for Reading and junction 12 for Theale will close at 21:00 BST on Friday and reopen at 06:00 on Monday.
National Highways project manager Nick Axford said the closure was to enable "vital" works to the Burghfield Road bridge.
A diversion will be in place.
The bridge repairs included replacing the existing paint system and refurbishing the structure's bearings.
It is the fifth in a series of weekend and overnight closures, with the work expected to be completed by the end of July.
The same stretch of motorway will also be closed overnight from Monday 20 to Thursday 23 May and Tuesday 28 May to Friday 31 May.
Mr Axford advised people to plan "accordingly" and check the National Highways website and social media channels for updates.
