Almost 200 homes have moved a step closer to construction after design and layout plans were submitted.

Persimmon Homes Wessex, the housebuilders behind Warminster's Jubilee Gardens, has lodged proposals with Wiltshire Council for the third phase of its 1,000 homes scheme.

The development would continue the extension of the linear park, providing a mixture of two-bed, three-bed and four-bed properties.

If the plans are approved, the developer says the wider scheme will invest "millions of pounds" in the local vicinity, delivering a "sustainable community for local people".

Persimmon would deliver the homes with its sister company, Charles Church, according to the Local Democracy Reporting Service (LDRS).

It said its plans include land for a new primary school, significant areas of open space, including a riverside park, equipped children's play areas, two areas of sports pitches and associated changing rooms.

Outline planning permission was granted for up to 1,000 homes on the site in 2020 and this third phase of construction would concern the land north of Victoria Road and to the west of Bath Road.

The proposed properties will have allocated off-road parking, and the development would complete the full length of the central spine road, connecting the previously approved sections from the two new junctions.

Key architectural features of the properties would include "harmonious, locally distinctive palette, with simple forms and details".

Julian Roper, Persimmon Homes regional managing director, said: "We hope our record of delivery and the quality of our plans will speak for themselves.

"We look forward to working with key stakeholders such as Wiltshire Council and Warminster Town Council as we move our application through the planning process."
