A 22-year-old man has been charged with attempted murder after a crash which left a pedestrian with "life-altering" injuries.

The victim, aged 48, was taken to hospital where he remains in critical condition after the incident on Fitzwilliam Road, Rotherham, at 16:40 BST on Saturday.

Marcin Chroback, of Bawtry Road, appeared at Sheffield Magistrates' Court earlier charged with attempted murder in connection with the crash.

South Yorkshire Police said the injured man "was found with serious injuries believed to have been caused by a vehicle".

The force appealed for CCTV or dashcam footage from the Eastwood area, specifically relating to a blue Skoda and grey VW Golf.

A 45-year-old man, who was also arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, has been bailed pending further investigation.

A 25-year-old woman arrested on suspicion of attempted murder has been released with no further action.

Mr Chroback is due to appear at Sheffield Crown Court for a plea hearing on 25 June.
