Supplies lost after East Sussex water main bursts

Bottled water stations have been opened after a burst water main disrupted supplies in East Sussex.

Southern Water said the problem was affecting St Leonards and parts of Hastings and it was likely to "continue into the weekend".

It said engineers would be working around the clock to repair the main, which is located in dense woodland.

The water company spokesperson added: "We are very sorry for the impact and inconvenience this is causing, and are doing everything we can to restore supplies."

The bottled water stations were due to remain open until 22:00 BST, after they were initially being closed at 21:00, and will reopen on Friday morning.

They are at the Asda and Tesco supermarkets in St Leonards-on-Sea and in Sea Road, Hastings.

The Asda water station will reopen at 08:00, Tesco at 07:00 and Sea Road at 06:00.

The company said it was delivering water to vulnerable customers on its priority services register.
