Fire and rescue teams are spending a second day battling wildfires that have closed a number of roads north of Grantown-on-Spey in the Highlands.

Emergency services were alerted to reports of a large blaze next to the A939 at Dava at 17:50 on Saturday.

That road remained closed into Sunday, as did the A940 at Dava and the nearby B9007 between Duthil and Ferness.

The police have urged the public to avoid the area and advise those living nearby to keep their windows and doors shut.

One witness, who tried to put the initial fire out, told BBC Scotland News it started south-east of Loch Allan.

They said the seat of the wildfire was a ring of stones where a camp fire had been lit and camping chairs had been abandoned.

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "Operations Control mobilised four fire appliances to the area, where firefighters are currently working to extinguish the fire.

"Crews remain in attendance."
