A garden open day has raised £13,000 for a palliative care charity.

The event was held at Ludstone Hall, near Claverley, Shropshire, a private family residence which does not usually open to the public.

It raised money for Compton Care, a charity based in Wolverhampton.

The event featured live entertainment, food stalls, a tombola, activities, and tours of the Grade I listed building.

"As a family, we have experienced first-hand the care and compassion of the staff at Compton Care, who really are there to help when you need it most," said Steven Smith, one of the hall's owners.
