Motorists are facing delays after a burst water main flooded a key route near a school.

Engineers are working to repair the pipe in Banbridge Close in Swindon, Wiltshire, after it burst at about 05:00 BST.

A section of the B4534 Whitehill Way from Tewkesbury Way and Freshbrook sides has been closed. There is also no right turn off Gainsborough Way or left turn off Grange Park Way, a Thames Water spokesperson said.

The water has now been switched off and residents are being warned they could experience "lower than normal" water pressure.

The spokesperson added: "Our teams are on site clearing the debris caused by the burst, prioritising a safe access to the nearby school.

"They will commence the repair shortly."

The water company apologised for the disruption caused.
