A woman has been left seriously injured after she was hit by a car in Leeds.

The vehicle, a blue Renault Captur, was travelling towards Leeds city centre on Abbey Road, Kirkstall, when the crash happened at 10:55 BST on Wednesday.

Police said the vehicle hit the pedestrian, a woman in her 80s, who was taken to hospital. The route was closed to allow for investigation work to take place.

Officers appealed for anyone who witnessed the collision or has CCTV or dashcam footage to contact them.
