A mother and daughter died after their home in Huddersfield was "engulfed in flames", an inquest has heard.
Danielle Parkinson, 31, and her eight-year-old daughter Iliza died after their house in Leeds Road caught fire in the early hours of 31 July.
Ms Parkinson died at Huddersfield Royal Infirmary at 03:45 BST, while Iliza was taken to Royal Manchester Children's Hospital, where she died during surgery at 12:34 BST.
Assistant Coroner Caroline Chandler opened the inquests in Bradford, which were adjourned to conclude on 13 January.
A preliminary cause of death report read to the court said Ms Parkinson died at Huddersfield Royal Infirmary from smoke and fire gas inhalation and severe burns.
Iliza was also initially taken to Huddersfield Royal Infirmary but was transferred to Manchester and "whilst undergoing surgery passed away", the court heard.
Her preliminary cause of death was inhalation of products of combustion, pending further tests.
A report read to the coroner said that at 02:20 BST on 31 July a passer-by called 999 "as the house was engulfed in flames".
Ms Parkinson's other daughter, a 10-year-old, was in a critical condition following the fire.
