A 57-year-old has been charged with the murder of a man who died in a stabbing.

James Murray, 47, died on Whitburn Road in Wythenshawe, Manchester, at 20:00 GMT on Wednesday.

Greater Manchester Police (GMP) said Scott Thomson, 57, of Skye Walk, Wythenshawe, would appear at Stockport Magistrates' Court on Monday over Mr Murray's murder.

His family have asked for privacy as they "deal with our grief and loss".

GMP said a 64-year-old woman who was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender had now been been released on bail.
