A "violent and controlling" man has been jailed for repeatedly attacking and raping a woman.

Steven Bull, 30, of Grosvenor Road, Aldershot, was arrested after subjecting his victim - a woman in her 30s - to a number of attacks in 2021.

Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary said as well as raping her, Bull slapped and punched her, leaving her with black eyes and bite marks.

He was previously found guilty following a trial at Winchester Crown Court of rape and engaging in controlling and coercive behaviour. He was sentenced to 15 years in jail.

Det Con Graeme Calver commended the victim for her "bravery and courage throughout the investigation".

He said: "No one should have to feel in fear of their safety, and everyone should feel safe within our communities, and I want to be clear that violence of any kind will not be tolerated.

"I hope the victim is able to try and move forward and rebuild her life now he is in prison."
