Man charged over bank holiday beach sex assault

A man has been charged with a sexual assault on an East Sussex beach.

A woman in her 50s reported being attacked at about 17:30 BST on 25 August while she was sunbathing in the dunes at Camber Sands, Sussex Police said.

Mohammed Maatoug, 33, of Boxley Road, Maidstone, Kent, was later arrested and has been charged with sexual assault by penetration.

He appeared at Brighton Magistrates' Court on Tuesday and has been remanded in custody until a further appearance at Lewes Crown Court on 7 October.
