A man has been jailed for four years for making threats to kill and coercive and controlling behaviour following the death of a woman.
Charlotte Randall died in hospital, four days after she was found unconscious and in a life-threatening condition at an address in Elsenham Crescent in Basildon, Essex, on 10 March. She was 39.
Essex Police arrested Joshua Robinson, then 32 and of no fixed abode, on the day she died, 14 March.
At Basildon Crown Court on Tuesday, the now 33-year-old pleaded guilty and was sentenced to four years in prison for making threats to kill and two years for controlling and coercive behaviour, which will run concurrently. He was also given a 10-year restraining order.
Det Ch Insp Louise Metcalfe, said: "This has been a challenging and distressing case for Charlotte's family.
"We ask you to respect their privacy at this time as we deal with the ongoing loss of their loving mother, sister and friend."
Ms Metcalfe said coercive and controlling behaviour is a "cruel and manipulative crime" and thanked her officers, who she said worked "diligently" throughout the case.
