The hearing ruled that Jodie Cleminson would have been dismissed if she was still serving

A former police officer who was aware that her boyfriend was dealing drugs would have been sacked if she had not already resigned.

Essex Police said PC Jodie Cleminson was barred from joining a force again after she was found guilty of gross misconduct.

A hearing on 28 June found that the former officer had taken drugs as well as tipping off her boyfriend about police activity while he was dealing drugs.

Chief Constable Ben-Julian Harrington said: “Her actions upset and disgust every member of Essex Police and there is no place for her in policing."

Cleminson was serving as an officer between December 2019 and 2022 when an investigation found that she was aware of her boyfriend's drug use.

She also knew that he was supplying drugs to others, and she was expected but failed to act on that information.

Mr Harrington added: “I want to reassure the public that the overwhelming majority of officers, staff and volunteers are dedicated to serving our communities professionally and to the highest of standards.”

Cleminson resigned from the police in August 2022.
