Man arrested after fatal two-vehicle crash

Suffolk Police has arrested a man after a person died in a crash near Newmarket

A man has been arrested after a fatal crash involving two cars.

Police, paramedics and firefighters were called to Cotton End Road in Exning, near Newmarket, Suffolk, on Friday at 22:22 BST.

The 40-year-old driver of a Volkswagen Touran died at the scene of the crash, which also involved a Vauxhall Astra.

On Tuesday, a 20-year-old man from Ely, Cambridgeshire, was arrested on suspicion of several offences including causing death by dangerous driving.

A passenger of the Volkswagen as well as another in the Vauxhall were both seriously injured in the crash and remain in hospital.

The driver of the Vauxhall also sustained serious injuries.

According to police, the 20-year-old man was also arrested on suspicion of two counts of causing serious injury by dangerous driving, driving while over the prescribed alcohol limit, driving while over the prescribed drug limit and driving while unfit through drink and drugs.

He has been bailed until 28 January with conditions.
