Plans have been submitted for 27 new homes to be built on the site of a shed and garage showroom in Hull.

Newstar Sectional Buildings has put forward the proposal for its site on Beverley Road.

According to the Local Democracy Reporting Service, the applicant says the plans "have a distinctive character and create a strong sense of place".

Hull City Council will decide whether to grant permission for the project.

'Poor current form'

According to the plans, an "L-shaped" building would contain properties ranging from three-bedroom homes to studio apartments, including "affordable" housing.

The proposal claims the "affordable housing is well-integrated so there is no discernible difference between market and affordable dwellings".

If the scheme goes ahead, the existing workshop would be demolished.

According to the application, "the appearance of the site in its current form is poor and is at odds with the surrounding built form".
