A man has died after his car crashed with an ambulance on a road in Moray.

The 36-year-old was driving a blue Renault Megane when the collision happened on Monday morning on the A98 near Buckie - he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Two paramedics and their patient, all male, were taken to hospital for treatment, but none of their injuries were thought to be serious.

The road remained closed overnight, and Police Scotland has appealed for witnesses, external.

Sgt Dave Cooper said: "Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the man who died and we continue to carry out inquiries to establish the full circumstances of the crash.

"I am appealing to anyone who witnessed the crash or the vehicles prior to the crash and who hasn't already spoken to officers to contact us.

"I would also ask anyone who was in the area and may have dash cam footage which could assist to get in touch."

It is understood a fourth person not directly linked with the collision itself was also taken to hospital.
