A man has been charged with manslaughter after a "kind-hearted and "much-loved character" died following an alleged attack.

Police were called to the St Olaves shops, in Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk at 20:05 BST on 26 July after reports of an assault.

Scott Lisney, 56, from the town, died in West Suffolk Hospital three days later with his family later issuing a tribute saying he "would do anything for anybody".

Andrew Allen, 54, of Severn Road, Bury St Edmunds was charged with manslaughter and appeared at Peterborough Crown Court on Tuesday.

Mr Allen, who was previously charged with inflicting grievous bodily harm, has been remanded in custody ahead of a further appearance at the same court tomorrow.

Following Mr Lisney's death his family said they felt a "strong sense of loss".

In a statement they said: "We are saddened by the sudden loss of our Scott, who was a much-loved son, brother, father and uncle.

"He was a kind-hearted man who would do anything for anybody and was a much-loved character in the community who was full of fun and a smart and snappy dresser, well known for wearing his suits.

"We are all feeling a strong sense of loss from the hole that has been left but we would like to thank everybody for their kind words."
