Festivals are taking place in Skegness, Mablethorpe and Gainsborough this weekend.

The SO Festival is being held in Skegness on Friday and Saturday and in Mablethorpe on Sunday, while the sister GO Festival takes place in Gainsborough on Saturday.

The festivals, which are free to attend, include performance theatre, dance, family fun and other arts activities.

Organisers said the events had been "created to take you on a joyous journey of discovery," and the SO Festival includes the UK premier of seven international arts acts.

The SO Festival takes place at the Embassy Theatre in Skegness on Friday and Saturday from 11:45 to 19:30 BST and on the beach, promenade and in parks in Mablethorpe on Sunday between 12:00 and 17:00.

The festival includes performances and activities and also supports creative and cultural organisations throughout the rest of the year.

The GO festival, taking place between 10:00 and 18:00 on Saturday in Gainsborough, includes a community stage in the Market Place and acts performing on Elswitha Green.

There will also be a Caribbean-inspired carnival procession interwoven with local themes inspired by English folklore and nature taking place in the town centre.

West Lindsey District Council has funded the festival with the support of an award by Arts Council England of £30,000 from National Lottery Project Grants.
