Firefighters say they have been making "steady progress" with a fire affecting two semi-detached thatched homes in north Devon.

Devon and Somerset Fire Service said crews had been at the buildings in Georgeham near Croyde since about 10:40 GMT on Monday.

It said earlier the "building is fully involved in fire".

In an update at 18:45 GMT it said firefighting was ongoing.

Crews had salvaged some property and were using an aerial ladder to tackle the fire, said the fire service.

People living in the area were advised to keep their windows and doors closed due to the smoke.
