Pools to close for a year for immediate refurb

A popular leisure pool complex will close immediately for a refurbishment that could take at least a year to complete.
The Lagoons at Doncaster Dome were due to shut in 2025 for the start of the planned work, but the date has now been brought forward.
Doncaster Culture and Leisure Trust said "accelerating enabling works" had taken place in recent days on the £14.4m project.
Other areas of The Dome will remain open, including the Ice Caps skating rink and the Fitness Village gym.
Chief executive Michael Hart said: "While we are sorry that the Lagoons will be closed, we are really excited to see this much-needed refurbishment project get underway.
"Leisure swimming will be available through our other pool venues across the city, and we will be programming sessions to minimise disruption.
"Customers with a booking for the lagoons will be eligible for a refund or will be able to move their booking to an alternative activity or venue."
The Lagoons complex includes several indoor pools, an outdoor pool and flumes.
The sports and leisure centre opened in 1989 and was given a Grade II listing in 2023.
