People are being asked to have their say on plans to demolish a former swimming pool and build retirement homes, after plans were amended.

The application seeks to demolish the former Oadby Swimming Pool in Leicestershire and create 50 apartments, six cottages and a bungalow.

Churchill Retirement Living originally submitted the plans in December, but amended them this month.

The company said this came after "positive design discussions" with planning officers.

Oadby and Wigston Borough Council announced in March 2023 that a buyer for the site had been found, with the swimming pool standing derelict for a decade.

The authority said money raised from the sale would be invested in a new community hub at nearby Ellis Park.

The three tennis courts on site would be removed if the plans are approved, with communal facilities and car parking included in the application.

Oadby Swimming Pool has been surplus to requirements since Parklands Leisure Centre opened in Washbrook Lane in 2014.

A Churchill Retirement Living spokesperson said: "We have had positive design discussions with planning officers, taken on their feedback and amended the designs accordingly, and we continue to work proactively with the council to achieve a positive outcome."
