Car driven at police officer in attempted murder

Detectives are seeking a driver who hit a police officer with a car in an attempted murder in Dumfries.
Police were called to assist a member of the public in Herries Avenue just after midnight, where a silver Subaru Forester was deliberately driven at an officer.
He was taken to Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary, where he in a stable condition.
The car was abandoned near Catherinefield Road. The driver is described as male, with short dark hair, wearing a grey top, trousers and trainers.
Det Insp Scott Wilson said: "Our thoughts are with the officer, his family and colleagues at this time.
"This incident is being treated as attempted murder, and we will use all tools at our disposal to trace the person responsible."
