Pub where man died could be converted into flats

A South Yorkshire pub that closed after a father-of-five was fatally injured nearby could be turned into apartments.
An application has been lodged with Doncaster Council to convert the former Park Social Sports Bar and Lounge in Balby into eight flats.
The site on Victoria Road shut in December 2023 following the death of Jason Gaskin, 53, who was found unconscious with head injuries on 29 October and died at the scene.
The pub has been vacant since the incident as the owner was unable to secure a tenant to reopen the site as a pub, the Local Democracy Reporting Service said.
Development of the building would include removing the rear escape and plant room to create an outdoor communal space, with new doors, windows and external fencing also added.
In October, South Yorkshire Police appealed for information one year on from Mr Gaskin's death.
Four people were arrested on suspicion of murder, with two later released without charge.
The other two were released under investigation pending further inquiries.
