Police have issued a new appeal for witnesses one year after the suspected murder of a Doncaster father of five.

Jason Gaskin, 53, died after being found unconscious with head injuries outside Park Social Working Men's Club in Balby on 29 October 2023.

Four people were arrested on suspicion of murder. Two have since been released without charge, and two were released under investigation pending further inquiries.

Police said a post-mortem examination was inconclusive, and they were now waiting for the results of further tests to determine the cause of death.

'Crucial' information

Det Insp Adam Watkinson, senior investigating officer for the case, said: "Our thoughts... remain with Jason's family as they seek answers following his tragic death exactly one year ago today.

"I cannot imagine the pain and grief they are continuing to endure and.... I want to take this opportunity to implore anyone with any information that can help us with our murder investigation to please get in touch if you haven't already done so."

He said officers were particularly keen to hear from anyone who was in the club just before Mr Gaskin's death or anyone who was in the surrounding area at the time.

"Even the smallest piece of information could prove to be a crucial part of the jigsaw and could help us bring the perpetrators of this crime to justice," Mr Watkinson added.

In a statement, the victim's family said he had been "a family man with lots of character."

"His death has left five children without their father.

"If you witnessed what happened to Jason, please come forward to help us secure justice for him.”
